Peter’s career in the financial markets spans three decades and three continents, and he has worked as a derivatives trader, financial engineer, author, and consultant. With experience in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and Africa, he has both traded and structured derivative products in a variety of asset classes. He has co-edited all three editions of the text ‘Understanding South African Financial Markets’, and is the author of ‘Introduction to Derivatives’. He holds a number of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, including a MBA in Finance, as well as a host of professional financial qualifications.
Our Training Director, Emil, is responsible for overseeing all of our workshop-based and distance-learning programmes. Emil graduated with the BBanking degree from Unisa, and has spent several years in the tax and accounting fields. He is also a PRM holder and is currently studying towards a degree in Quantitative Management.
Our Programme Director, Lerato, manages the ‘engine room’ of Peter Skerritt & Associates. She has spent most of her professional career as a Client Relationship Manager in the Financial Services Industry and is currently completing a BCom in Financial Management.

Peter has over twenty years experience in the London Financial Markets. He began his career in the Fixed Income Fund Management sector, specifically trading in European Government Bonds before moving to Fixed Income sales at a US Investment Bank.
He subsequently worked in the FX market for various international banks covering FX and derivative sales to Central Banks and Hedge Funds. He has also been involved in setting up and running Prime Brokerage and Margin Trading systems as well as trading CFDs and metals.
George Van Der Westhuizen
An Actuarial Science graduate, George has extensive experience of the South African and international fixed income derivatives markets, He has worked as both a cash and derivatives trader and his resume includes the position of Head of Swaps at Absa Bank.
He has lectured and consulted widely on the topic across many countries on the African continent and beyond, and is well-known for his emphasis on practical modelling of cash flows to gain a true understanding of their economic characteristics.
More recently, George has successfully conducted introductory and advanced ALM workshops in several leading centres across the globe, utilising his proprietary ALM simulator.
C. King Chanetsa (Bert)
Bert Chanetsa is an independent consultant, researcher and educator in capital markets, securities practice, regulation and business finance. He is a former Deputy Chief Executive of the Financial Services Board of South Africa, member of the board of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), Vice-Chair of IOSCO’s Growth and Emerging Markets Committee and member of the Monitoring Board of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation. He is currently Vice Chair of the International Securities and Capital Markets Committee of the American Bar Association, Section of International Law and a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
In addition, Bert’s career has covered areas including legal practice, investment/merchant and commercial banking and private equity.
Illse has spent more than 20 years in the banking sector, with specific focus on Balance Sheet Management and the Financial Regulatory landscape. She was part of the team that developed an ALM solution used in many African banks and as such she has an in-depth knowledge of the uniqueness of the African banking sector.
She has published numerous articles on Financial Risk Management and is the author of the Financial Risk Management module for the Business School Netherland’s RISK MBA and faculty member of the Business School.
An inspiring public speaker and champion for pro-active ALCO processes, she has facilitated and offered several workshops to executives and board members of banks in various African countries including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Tanzania, Namibia, Malawi and Ghana.
Nigel has twenty-seven years of treasury management experience with major corporate entities, most recently as Group Treasurer of the De Beers Group. He is now an independent consultant, helping organisations who wish to move their treasury operations towards industry best practice.
Nigel assists in promoting the treasury profession by serving on the Board of the Association of Corporate Treasurers of Southern Africa and is their current Chairman.
Dr. Antonie Kotzé
Antonie has over 23 years’ experience as a quantitative analyst in the South African and African financial and derivatives markets. He is a renowned expert in financial mathematics, modelling and training, and holds teaching and research positions at leading South African universities.

Antonie holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical/Mathematical Physics from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Andre is a consulting trainer as well as a corporate finance practitioner who has delivered courses around the world in the areas of Credit, Corporate Finance, Valuation and Financial Modelling both for Corporates and Banks
Andre qualified as a Chartered Accountant, completing articles with PWC. He started his career with a subsidiary of Commercial Union, involved in the steel manufacturing industry.
His commercial experience includes restructuring and turning around a Steel Manufacturing operation, consulting to a Pharmaceutical company involved in medical devices for both Government and Private Hospitals and an in-depth knowledge of the citrus industry, consulting to South African Airways and extensive work at Hanover Acceptances property company, Dorrington in London.
His career then spanned over 15 years in the Venture Capital and Private Equity arena, where he has gained a vast amount of experience in the corporate analysis and valuation field. He is currently involved in the area of impairment tests for goodwill for corporates.

Geoff Burton is a former commercial banker with 25 years’ experience in branch banking and credit evaluation in England with Midland Bank plc (now HSBC), and in South Africa with Nedbank.
Since leaving the banking industry in 1994 he has consulted with businesses on financial management issues and has trained business owners and bankers in subjects such as business management, accounting and taxation, financial management, and credit risk management in South Africa, Tanzania, The Philippines, Bosnia, Trinidad and Ukraine.
Since January 2000 Geoff has been the Managing Director of his own training company which specialises in financial skills training for banks and corporate clients.

Trevor started his career in 1974 as a coffee floor trader at Merrill Lynch. Since that time, he has worked in various institutions and managed a hedge fund. He was one of the founders of the Society of Technical Analysts, the UK professional body in this field. He was also on the Board which created its professional qualification, and worked as the Head of Technical Analysis at Bloomberg for four years.
His firm, BETA Group is an Accredited Training Provider for the Charter Institute for Securities and Investment, Thomson Reuters Preferred Third-party Provider of technical analysis courses.
BETA Group specialises in running in-house courses in trading techniques and technical analysis for treasury desks, corporate hedgers, analysts and traders.

Debbie Munger is a certified Microsoft facilitator and owner of DMPC Training Services. Debbie has 22 years facilitating experience in corporate environments, particularly within the financial sector.
She is an expert in the management of data, reporting and dashboard building. Debbie combines her IT training and years of industry experience to deliver both training and development solutions that align with her client’s business objectives
Her experience includes the training of end-user application software, including all Microsoft products, specialising in Microsoft Excel, Access, VBA and presentation software from beginners to an advanced level.
